Navajo Nation Proposed Open Burning Regulations

The Navajo Nation Air Quality Control Program (NNAQCP) of the Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency (Navajo Nation EPA) is re-opening the public comment period on the Proposed Open Burning Regulations.  These regulations seek to reduce emissions of particulate matter and other pollutants and noxious fumes caused by open burning, and to discourage open burning disposal practices where alternative methods are feasible and practicable. 
Comments will be accepted through March 31, 2012.

Notice on the proposed regulations was first published on March 23, 2009, and the initial public comment period took place from March 23, 2009 to April 23, 2009.     

Copies of the proposed regulations are available for public review at the NNAQCP offices located at Navajo Route 112 North, Building 2837, Fort Defiance, Arizona.   Viewing hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (except holidays).  Comments may be submitted by mail to Charlene Nelson, Program Manager, NNACQP, Navajo Nation EPA, P.O.
